If you are looking for a fun adventure watch with lots of thrilling moments, then Migration is the movie for you. It describes the seemingly mundane life of a family of mallard ducks who are content living near their peaceful pond. But this peace is interrupted when they encounter another family of ducks migrating to Jamaica. Mother duck, Pam, decides that they too must go on a family migration. The father, Mac, is sceptical and hesitant, but finally caves in to his family’s wishes. And they set out on the migration along with their stowaway uncle Dan.

During the journey, they escape many dangers by the skin of their teeth until a rescue mission goes awry and a maniacal chef becomes intent on turning them into duck a l’orange. I won’t give away any more spoilers now—you will have to watch the whole movie to find out what happens next.

It has some scenes that appear comedic at first but have a deeper meaning.Like the naïve ducks who blindly believe their caretakers, showing how humans often betray the love of gullible animals.

The animation is amazing. The dialogues are witty and quirky. For example, the chef is described as, “He’s like a predator, but instead of eating you, he serves you to a bunch of lazier predators.” However, I think that they could have developed the chef’s character a bit more, instead of just portraying him as the classic bad guy, who obsesses over something trivial and turns it into a big deal. He lacks a motivating factor.

What drew me to the movie was the well-knit family whose members are always there for each other. Even Dax, the son of Pam and Mac, with his teenage tantrums, never runs away from the problems his family faces and always tries his best to help. All in all, it is a fantastic movie and a must-watch for those looking for a dramatic travelogue with a side of uproarious comedy.
